Visiting Maryland

Maryland, surrounds the Chesapeake Bay and makes up the major landmass of the Delmarva Peninsula, draws a diversity of visitors. From the capital city of Annapolis, and the beauty of Baltimore and the Inner Harbor, to the eastern shore and family fun at Ocean City beaches. Business travelers are frequent Maryland visitors for medical research activities at Johns Hopkins University and government agencies like the National Institute of Health and Food and Drug Administration both located in Maryland. Getaway to the Mountain Side of Maryland in the northwest, the excitement of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, or the historic cobblestone streets of Annapolis – enjoy your travels to Maryland.

Known as “the Sailing Capital of the World”, Annapolis in fall is the spot to be to see the latest in boating. The 2011 US Sail Boat Show runs October 6th through the 10th, at City Dock in downtown Annapolis. If you are driving, parking at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is recommended. This is the premier show to see the latest sailboats from US and international boat manufacturers.

The 2011 United States Powerboat Show immediately follows the sailboat show from October 13th through the 16th. From runabouts to luxurious yachts, you see the latest and greatest marine products. The Annapolis powerboat show is an in-water exhibition featuring interactive workshops and demos. Whether it’s a dream or you’re ready to purchase a boat, October in Annapolis is where to be.

For an exciting tour of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, check out the Seadog Speedboat and Sightseeing Tours. Seadog features a 50-minute tour complete with historic narratives of the area and a speedboat ride. Before you leave the Inner Harbor, don’t miss a visit to the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center or if you are traveling with kids, Port Discovery, the Children’s Museum.

The 2011 North American Ping Pong Teams Championships come to Baltimore the end of November. From November 25th through the 27th the Baltimore Convention Center will be filled with the best Ping-Pong players from across the world. See the game played like never before in Baltimore. Baseball fans visit the Reginald F. Lewis Museum for “Beyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente”, an exhibition honoring Roberto Clemente’s contributions to baseball and his world. The exhibit runs from November 5, 2011 to January 2, 2012.
